Are PODS Worth the Expense?
Portable On-Demand Storage or PODS has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. Although it's been around for awhile, a lot of homeowners discovered its benefits only recently. PODS basically serve as an alternative for traditional moving trucks. Depending on the items you need to move, it can be significantly cheaper. So let's take a deeper look at what it offers:
How PODS Work
PODS can be dropped off at your location the night before you're scheduled to pack. You can take your time filling them up and this removes a lot of pressure off your shoulder. When you're finished packing, the PODS employees will bring your items to a secure storage facility until you're ready to move to the final destination.
The pricing of PODS depend on how long you need it, how far the destination is, and whether you use the secure storage facility. In the Maryland area, PODS charges around 9 to deliver the PODS to your current location, to pick it up, and deliver it to the destination. There are additional charges to return the PODS from your final destination after your move is complete.
It is important to finish your move in a month or you will be charged another 9 a month until the PODS are retrieved. In comparison to 24' budget trucks, PODS might look more expensive at first glance because the truck only costs 0/day. But take note that you need to complete the move in only one day while PODS lets you pack, move, and unpack at your convenience.
How Many PODS Do You Need?
A large PODS measures 8x8x16 and holds 1024 cubic feet. In essence, you would need two large PODS to move a moderately-furnished 3-bedroom townhome items to another local location. A few runs with a truck or van will complete the move. On the other hand, if you're moving out-of-state, then everything has to fit into the PODS. It may be necessary for you to hire a third PODS as you need to disassemble everything possible then pack them into boxes.

Recommendation
For busy individuals, PODS offers a good alternative to traditional moving companies. It lets you pack at your leisure and move at your leisure. There is no pressure at all. But some individuals prefer traditional firms because they have packed everything beforehand. At the end of the day, it is up to you to decide whether PODS present a better alternative.
Like any other product/service, both options presented here have its own pros and cons. Choose the solution that will fit your particular circumstance and budget.
